Kentucky Attorney General Suing CVS for Their Role in the Opioid Epidemic.

CVS health is being sued by Attorney General Daniel Cameron for their role with the opioid epidemic in Kentucky.  The lawsuit claims that CVS pharmacies in Kentucky purchased more than 151 million dosage units of Oxycodone and Hydrocodone between 2006 and 2014 without having reported any suspicious orders for its Kentucky stores from 2007 to 2014. In 2015, the Centers for Disease Control identified Kentucky as having a statistically significant drug overdose death rate from the year prior.  Furthermore, in 2015, drug overdoses accounted for nearly 60% of accidental deaths in the state.   Cameron claims that CVS improperly normalized the widespread use of opioids by marketing, advertising and promotion of the products.   The attorney general continues to pursue other pharmaceutical companies in his fight against opioids.
