KFW offering free hunter education classes ahead of start of August hunting seasons

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife is ready to help you prepare for the field with their Hunter Education Day classes.

KFW will host a special statewide Hunter Education Day on Saturday, August 1, with more than 30 in-person hunter education classes and live-fire range days at locations across the commonwealth.

KFW says the annual education effort is held in conjunction with National Shooting Sports Month, during which additional attention is brought to shooting sports to help grow the pastime. The start of August is also a convenient time for a refresher as hunting seasons in the state begin in mid-August.

The class covers topics such as hunter ethics, wildlife conservation and identification, field care of game, first aid, firearm safety, archery, and muzzleloading. In-person and online education opportunities are available.

The courses and range days are open to participants nine years of age and older and are offered for free, but registration is required. Visit the Hunter Education webpage at fw.ky.gov to register.
