In 2015, the Centers for Disease Control identified Kentucky as having a statistically significant drug overdose death rate from the year prior.  Furthermore, in 2015, drug overdoses accounted for nearly 60% of accidental deaths in the state.   Cameron claims that CVS improperly normalized the widespread use of opioids by marketing, advertising and promotion of the products.   The attorney general continues to pursue other pharmaceutical companies in his fight against opioids.
