The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information regarding a possible car theft suspect. According to the department, a vehicle was left abandoned in the median of Bluegrass Parkway around the sixteen-mile marker on Friday. Upon officer’s arrival, there was no one around the vehicle and the driver’s side front tire was blown out. Officers ran the vehicle and it came back stolen, reportedly on December 9^th, to the Louisville Metro Police Department. No one was found walking in the immediate area. If there is any information regarding a stranded motorist that was given a ride, please contact the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.

Hardin County Schools has announce their pre-school and kindergarten early registration dates for the 2020-2021 school year. The registration will be held on Friday, March 6^th, 2020 between 9 AM and 2 PM at all elementary schools except Meadow View, Radcliff, Woodland, and Vine Grove, which will take place at North Park Elementary. Children who will be five years of age on or before August 1^st, 2020 are eligible for kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year. Work on the Cardinal Drive realignment project in Elizabethtown will include closing a portion of Woodland Drive behind Hardin Memorial Hospital later this week. According to the Department of Transportation, construction on the new connection at the US 31W and Diecks Drive traffic signal will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, December 18 and 19, with closure starting at approximately 8 AM on Wednesday. Traffic to the hospital emergency room will still be accessible via Cardinal Drive, as it always has been. No specific detour will be utilized for this work, and signs and message boards will be placed to identify the change to any traffic pattern.

Helping Hand of Hope will be hosting their turkey and ham giveaway tomorrow from 10 AM until 3 PM. Those picking up an item must provide a valid photo ID. There will be a limit of one per household, and there will be no choices, as all participants will be given one or the other. The giveaway is open to anyone in Hardin County while supplies last. This will be a drive through event, and items will only be given out in the parking lot, not inside.  

More information has come forward regarding the shoplifters at Kroger on Dolphin Drive. According to the Elizabethtown Police Department, the five suspects have been identified as Kimberly Coffer of Nevada, and Antoinette Avant, Jocelyn Jackson, Elena Rios, and Kanisha Price, all of Illinois. The total value of items stolen by the crew is over $25,000. During the investigation, officers learned that some of the individuals had used multiple aliases during previous court appearances. Officer Chris Denham had one simple message for the suspects, and any others who may try their hand at shoplifting, stating, “If you come to Elizabethtown and steal from our business or our citizens, we will arrest you and you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

The Elizabethtown Planning Commission met on Tuesday and discussed several potential building projects for the future. There were preliminary plans set in place for a truck stop owned by RaceTrac Petroleum to be put at East Dixie and Lincoln Parkway. The facility will include spots for trucks to park overnight, but will not include repair facilities for the trucks or showers for drivers. Also discussed were plans for the future of the former McDonalds building at 900 North Mulberry Street, which will become a Dollar General, replacing the location already in existence on North Mulberry.

The Radcliff Veterans Center has been working on an artistic project with some of the residents. The residents, as well as staff and musical professionals, have written and recorded twelve songs. A record was made of the songs, and the album launch concert is scheduled for February 22^nd, 2020.

Nolin RECC is now accepting applications for the Washington Youth Tour. Five high school juniors whose parents receive electrical service through Nolin will spend June 19^th through the 25^th touring various landmarks in Washington D.C. The five youth that are selected this year will join more than 1,500 students and over 250 chaperones from cooperatives around the country. More details can be found by calling the Nolin office.  

Kentucky State Police Post 4 responded to a two-vehicle injury accident on Thursday night around 7:15 PM on Southbound 1-65 near Exit 94. For unknown reasons a driver crossed all three lanes of travel, and was stricken by a vehicle driven by Amy Kerrick of Indiana. The first driver was transferred to University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The wreck caused I-65 South to be shut down from Exit 102 to 94. Traffic was diverted to Exit 102 until the interstate was reopened around 10 PM.

A Radcliff man was arrested and charged with multiple offences early Friday morning after Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported domestic call. According to an arrest report, 37-year-old Marcus Albritton attempted to strangle his girlfriend and threatened to beat her. He also went after the victim’s son as he was trying to call police. When officers arrived, Albritton attempted to flee in the victim’s truck and struck a tree. Officers reported smelling alcohol on Albritton as he exited the vehicle. He is charged with fleeing or evading police, operating a vehicle under the influence, assault, attempted escape, and terroristic threatening. He is being lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.

Hardin County Farm Bureau received the 2019 Gold Star Award of Excellence for their achievements in their women’s program. The award was presented to them at the Kentucky Farm Bureau’s annual meeting in Louisville. This award honors the women’s committee’s participation in leadership development programs and agricultural promotion.

The victim of a shooting that took place at a Radcliff Wal-Mart on Monday has been identified. Hardin County Coroner Dr. William Lee revealed the man to be Cornelius Tory, 20, of Vine Grove. As previously reported, Tory was killed Monday night by Kendall Lincoln, who shot him eight times with a .45 caliber handgun. Lincoln is lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.

A fatal collision and its clearing and reconstruction closed KY 220 and Deckard School Road in Hardin County for over two hours yesterday afternoon. Deputies with the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident. Sheriff John Ward reports that there were three vehicles involved. A male driver was transported to University of Louisville Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A female driver was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital, and then the University of Louisville Hospital with her injuries, and a third driver was not injured. Names of those involved have not been released pending family notification.

Presbyterian Homes and Services of Kentucky held a special groundbreaking ceremony yesterday afternoon for Presbyterian Homes Helmwood in Elizabethtown. The new addition will be called the Elizabeth Sanford Swope Personal Care Unit, and will feature seventeen private units, an open concept community gathering area and more. The facility is located at 106 Diecks Drive.

The City of Vine Grove will be kicking off a three day Christmas celebration with a chili supper and auction tonight. The event will be held in the Community Room at City Hall from 5 PM to 8 PM. Other events include Light Up Downtown and Dickens of a Christmas on Friday night. The Vine Grove Women’s Club will host a breakfast with Mrs. Claus on Saturday morning from 9 AM to noon at Vine Grove Elementary school.

The Central Kentucky Rods and Machines Car Club held their 34^th Annual Christmas for the Kids Car Show over the Thanksgiving weekend. The money collected over the three day event will go towards Christmas shopping for kids in need. The club is in need of shopping helpers for their shopping trip happening tomorrow. A death investigation is underway after Radcliff Police responded to a call of shots fired at a Walmart around 10 o’clock Monday night. According to Captain Willie Wells, the body of an adult male was found when officers arrived on scene. No details as to the man’s identity have been released, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Brandenburg Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect in a robbery that took place at the Valero at 1200 Bypass Road. The subject entered the store around 5 AM Monday morning, dressed in all black and a ski mask. The subject was carrying a rifle and demanded cash and the clerk’s purse. They then left in a dark blue four-door vehicle, possibly a Kia Optima, and fled down Old State Road towards the high school. Police say not to make contact with the subject, as they are armed and dangerous. Anyone with information should contact Brandenburg Police or Meade County Dispatch.

Nolin RECC announced yesterday that it will be retiring $2.4 million in capital credits. These credits are what is left over after expenses are paid and repairs from major outages and upticks in new construction projects are covered. These funds will be given to Nolin members. Members who received a capital credit allocation during 1990 or 2018 can expect to receive a bill credit or check in the mail in December or January. Members do not need to contact Nolin to receive their credit, but those responsible for a deceased member’s estate should call the RECC office.

The historic season of the North Hardin Trojans Football team came to an end over the weekend, but there is a lot of pride surrounding the team. Head coach Brent Thompson says the team was the first to go 10-0, and that the young men on the team have given them a lot to look forward to building on in the future. The Trojans were defeated in the state semifinals by the Trinity Shamrocks last Friday night.

Vine Grove’s annual Christmas Celebration will start this weekend. An auction will kick off the events on Thursday, but Friday night will be the largest event as they combine their Dickens of a Christmas with Light Up Downtown. The event will start at 5:30 PM and run until around 7. Mayor Pam Ogden says the event will be held no matter the weather.
