“It’s absolutely charming,” Peterman shared with People. “…Often, when we take a quick break or enjoy breakfast or lunch, you glance over and see them in a booth at the bar. It genuinely looks like they’re on a date, just sitting together and being incredibly sweet.”
Reba McEntire and Rex Linn first met in 1991 on the set of Kenny Rogers’ film *The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw*. At that time, McEntire was married to Narvel Blackstock. Fast forward to 2020, and the two reconnected when McEntire made a guest appearance on *Young Sheldon*, a series that featured Linn.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, they grew closer through phone calls and virtual coffee dates. Their early interactions were centered around their on-screen work, and as their personal relationship developed, they continued to collaborate. Most recently, they co-starred in the ABC drama series Big Sky.
Despite using their break time for mini-dates, Peterman emphasizes that once the cameras start rolling again, Linn and McEntire are all business. “I will also add they’re really professional about it too,” she notes. “I mean, it’s very cute. But the minute we get back to work, it’s back to business, and you make her run lines all the time.”
Linn also spoke to People about finding a balance between work and fun with his country legend girlfriend. “Well, we’re running lines constantly, but every once in a while I’ll sneak by for a quick kiss,” he shares. “Just a peck on the cheek and keep on moving. It’s fun.”
Happy’s Place will premiere on Friday (Oct. 18) on NBC. McEntire is also a coach on the current season of The Voice.
