John Michael Montgomery has officially announced that 2025 will mark his final year of touring.
On December 31, the country music star took to Facebook to share the news with his fans, saying, “Happy New Year! We had a great 2024, thanks to everyone who came out to the shows. Looking forward to seeing you next year as I kick off my ROAD TO HOME farewell tour. Wishing you all a blessed 2025!”
This isn’t the first time Montgomery has hinted at wrapping up his touring career. At the beginning of 2024, he shared a similar message with fans.
“I have decided to wind down my touring career over this year and 2025,” Montgomery, then 58, wrote in early 2024. “It’s been a wonderful run for me from the beginning over 30 years ago in 1992 when my first song ‘Life’s A Dance’ was released to radio. I think either as a 45 vinyl or on a cassette tape—CDs had not quite taken over the market yet, and the internet was still in its infancy.”
A native of Kentucky, Montgomery rose to fame with his breakout hit “Life’s a Dance,” which reached the top five on the Hot Country Songs chart in 1993. He went on to win the Country Music Association’s Horizon Award in 1994, solidifying his place as a country music favorite.
