Firefighters with the Radcliff Fire Department and officers with the Radcliff Police Department want to make sure that when you are traveling in the car you are securing special cargo properly.
The RFD and RPD are hosting a free car seat safety check and install event Thursday at Navy Federal Credit Union, located at 1671 North Wilson Road.
“Everybody’s welcome to come by,” said Radcliff Deputy Fire Marshal Tommy Crane. “It’s an opportunity to just stop in. You don’t have to make an appointment. We’re going to have it from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s supposed to be nice weather, so stop by. We can double check your seat just to make sure. If your child’s with you, we can check the harness placement, make sure everything’s good there. Check the seat. We always want to make sure that people understand how the seat fits in the vehicle and then make sure that everybody has their child in correctly.”
Crane says these basic reminders and checks can make all the difference in the event of a crash.
“We also remind people of the different ages when they should have the child rear-facing and when they can turn around forward-facing, and remind them that if they’re 12 and under to keep them in the back seat as long as possible,” Crane said. “That’s the safest place for them.”
All are welcome to attend this free event.
