Funeral set for Trooper Hayden Phillips; flags lowered statewide, AG issues statement

Kentucky State Police says funeral services for Trooper Hayden Phillips are scheduled for noon Central Sunday at E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, with burial to follow in Glasgow.

Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered flags at state buildings lowered from sunrise to sunset Sunday in Phillips’ honor.

In a Sept. 28 release, Attorney General Russell Coleman called Phillips “one of Kentucky’s Finest” and said he made “the ultimate sacrifice.” Coleman said detectives from the Attorney General’s Office were on the scene and would continue supporting Kentucky State Police colleagues.

At a Kentucky State Police briefing, Trooper Katan Parker said, “Hayden devoted his life to serving others. But outside of the uniform, Hayden was a person with a family, a big personality, a sense of humor, interests, and memories that will stay with those who knew him.”
