Elizabethtown advances $17M bond plan to buy, renovate Ring Road building for new City Hall

Elizabethtown City Council has started the process to borrow up to $17 million to purchase and renovate the former BlueOval SK headquarters at 2323 Ring Road as the city’s new City Hall.

The bond plan would provide funding for the building purchase, renovation work and equipment needed to convert the site into City Hall.

Mayor Jeff Gregory said the city currently expects the project’s final cost to be closer to $16 million. “I’ve stated previously that we think the price is gonna be around 16, so that number’s in there just in case that we run into some fees that we didn’t anticipate, although we don’t anticipate running into those fees,” he said.

Gregory said city officials expect project revenues and other available city funds to cover the debt payments without a new bond tax.

The council’s action was an initial step. The bond measure, listed as Ordinance 18-2026 in the meeting record, must return for final City Council action before it can take effect.
