Knob Creek Gun Range in Bullitt County will hold their final machine gun shoot Friday, October 8th and Saturday, October 9th.
“There will be machine gun rentals available and a few competitions going on over the weekend. We’ve been doing it for 50 years, and you know what they say: all good things must come to an end. It’s very time consuming. It takes about 150 extra bodies to make the shoot happen,” says owner Kenny Sumner. The cost is $15 per person, per day.
James T. Alton Middle School has current assistant principal Allison Scherer as the school’s new principal. The JTA Site-Based Decision-Making Council voted unanimously to appoint Scherer to the role. “Allison is a lifelong Trojan. She is a North Hardin High School graduate, and has taught at the schools that feed JTA. She is a part of the JTA family and is heavily involved in the community. She is the right candidate to carry on the pride and tradition of excellence of JT Alton,” Community Relations Specialist John Wright said. Scherer replaces Kevin Estes who left JTA before the school year started. Jennifer Lewis has been the interim principal at JTA between Estes’ departure and Scherer’s appointment.
A new program created by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet launches today. The program expands options on remote renewal of driver’s licenses and ID cards.
The revamped main-in program will offer renewal of a four-year drivers license. Hard-copy cards will be mailed within 10 to 15 business days after successful processing. Renewal forms as well as more details about the program can be found at drive.ky.gov.
Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal collision in Breckinridge County.
Yesterday afternoon, the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s office requested assistance with a collision near the 3500 block of South KY 259 near Harned.
According to the news release, the preliminary investigation revealed that Anthony Coogle of Leitchfield was operating a 2005 Ford Taurus when he turned onto the roadway and into the path of a 2013 Ford Escape. The Escape traveling eastbound on KY 259, was operated by James Miller of Hardinsburg. After colliding, Coogle’s vehicle struck a 2006 ford f-350 traveling in the westbound lane.
Coogle was transported to the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The operator of the f-350 was not injured.
The collision remains under investigation by reconstructionist Trooper Brad Holloman.
A fatal crash on I-65 in Bullitt County has traffic at a standstill. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reported the crash at mile marker 116 earlier this morning. According to Shepherdsville Major Pawley, there is one confirmed fatality. The interstate is shut down in both directions, and Preston Highway is also backed up. The Shepherdsville accident reconstruction team is currently assessing the scene, and the roadway is expected to be closed for several hours.
Ford Motor Company is bringing 5,000 jobs to Hardin County. Ford and SK Innovation will build two electric battery plants in Glendale, investing 5.8 billion dollars. Governor Andy Beshear says this is the single largest investment in the history of our state. State Representative Jim Duplessis is also excited about what this means.
“It’s going to help us fund schools, help us fund roads and other infrastructure. I am extremely excited. The state is going to invest in ECTC up to 30 million dollars, maybe more to help train the new workers we’re going to need.”

The American Red Cross is experiencing an emergency blood and platelet shortage. The national Red Cross blood inventory is the lowest it has been at this time of the year since 2015, with less than a day’s supply of certain blood types in recent weeks.

Kentucky State Police have arrested a Larue County Man for Murder.
“Kentucky State Police received information of a possible body buried on a property near the Buffalo community of Larue County. After an extensive investigation, a search warrant was obtained and executed at a residence near the 500 block of Corinth Road by KSP on Friday, September 24th. Detectives located the remains of an unidentified person found buried underneath a large pile of debris in the backyard of the residence. KSP detectives charged David Puyear, age 59 of Buffalo, with murder and he was lodge in the Larue Co. jail,” stated Trooper First Class Scotty Sharp.
The remains have been transported to the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for positive identification and examination. More charges could be forthcoming as the investigation is still ongoing by Kentucky State Police Post 4 detectives.
The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance in identifying a vehicle who caused severe damage in Glendale.Around 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, September 25th, a semi pulling an extended low boy trailer caused damage to the train crossing on KY 222 in front of the Whistle Stop. The truck did not stop and continued west towards US 62. The Sheriff’s Office is asking for any video footage or eye witnesses that can assist in identifying the vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy Bryan Sallee at 270-765-5133.
Last Friday, Elizabethtown Police arrested and charged a local resident with sex offenses. “Following an investigation conducted by our detectives, Christopher Marshall, age 32, of Elizabethtown was arrested and charged with sodomy in the 3rd degree, rape in the 3rd degree and incest,” stated Public Information Officer Chris Denham. He is currently being held at the Hardin County Detention Center, and is scheduled to appear in Hardin County District Court today.
