Elizabethtown police arrested a man this week after allegedly finding someone else’s absentee ballot in his possession.
Elizabethtown Police made contact with the subject, Allen Hartford, in reference to a civil complaint. Police discovered that Hartford had an active warrant against him. While conducting a search of him, police discovered an absentee ballot on him, with police saying Hartford was unable to tell them for sure how he got it. Police delivered the ballot to the address listed, where the owner said he did not know it was missing, and that no one else was supposed to be in possession of the ballot. Hartford was arrested and charged with possession of stolen mail, a Class D felony in Kentucky.
He was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
A friendly rivalry between salon and barbershop will serve a good purpose in the community. The Purple Rose Salon and Andy’s Barbershop will be holding the third annual No Starve November competition all month long.
Donations can be made at the salon or the barbershop. Donors can drop off items at either location, or can have them delivered.
With the area already starting to experience lower temperature, Warm Blessings Soup Kitchen is still looking for volunteers. The organization is looking for volunteers to help operate their yearly day shelter.
Executive Director Dawn Cash says the shelter has seen a growing need for volunteers. The first training session for volunteers is this Saturday. For more information, contact Warm Blessings
With the date for potential utility shut-offs now looming for customers with outstanding balances, Nolin RECC officials are still providing options to pay back the balances due.

With added locations and better accessibility, voters turned out for the 2020 general election locally.
In the five counties we covered, LaRue county led the way in voter turnout, with 65% of registered voters casting ballots in the election. Grayson was next with 64% voter turnout; 63% of voters in Breckinridge county voted, and just under 60% voted in Meade county. Hardin county, which is home to 90,000 voters, only saw 48,000 vote, a voter turnout of just under 54%. As a reminder, absentee ballots received by November 3rd are still being counted through tomorrow.
