The Elizabethtown Police Department is kicking off their Cookout with Cops series Thursday. “This summer, we’re hosting a summer-long series called Cookout With Cops,” said EPD Public Information Officer Chris Denham. “Throughout the summer, we’ll be in various neighborhoods a couple times per week. The trial for Dustin Caudill, the Elizabethtown man accused of shooting and killing two men and then setting the Henon Lane residence they were in on fire in October 2024, was scheduled to begin next week. The Elizabethtown City Council met for their first meeting of the month Monday. The first reading was held on the city’s budget for fiscal year 2026-2027. “The budget contains total funds available of $158,472,681 and total appropriations for expenditures equal to $125,794.26, with an estimated ending fund balance of $32,677,755,” said City Attorney Ken Howard, reading from the ordinance. HCS has announced the promotion of Creekside Elementary School Principal Dr. Brooke Custis to the position of Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction.
