Lincoln Trail District unemployment for July consistent with previous year

Unemployment rates in the Lincoln Trail District in July trended mostly in line with where they were the year prior.

The Kentucky Center for Statistics says unemployment rates decreased in 87 counties, increased in 18, and stayed the same in 15 when comparing July 2026 with July 2025.

The state unemployment average for July was 5.1 percent. That’s down from the 5.6 percent average reported in June and the July 2025 average of 5.3 percent.

Hardin County’s unemployment rate for July came in above the state average at 5.8 percent. That is a decrease from the June rate of 6.3 percent but is up from July 2025 when the rate was reported at 5.4 percent.

Breckinridge County’s unemployment rate for July came in above the state average at 5.6 percent. That is down from both the June rate of 6.2 percent and the July 2025 rate of 6 percent.

The unemployment average for the Lincoln Trail District in July was 5.5 percent. Grayson County posted the highest unemployment rate in the district at 6.6 percent. Washington County posted the lowest unemployment rate in the district at 4.6 percent.
