HCS seeking feedback on 2027-2026 district calendar

The Hardin County Schools Calendar Committee is seeking public input on the 2027-2028 district calendar. HCS families and community stakeholders are asked to complete a survey on the calendar, which can be found under the News section at www.hardin.kyschools.us. “We do ask that participants keep the following in mind as they take the survey,” said HCS Community Relations Specialist John Wright. “We are required to place 174 instructional days onto the calendar with three professional learning days for staff. We would like to have an equal number of days before and after winter break. We are required to build in a certain number of predetermined makeup days. Each decision made on one day in the calendar will affect others in the calendar, so there’s a domino effect, and then certain days are mandated within the calendar by state and federal law.” The HCS Calendar Committee will consider survey input as it decides on its recommendation to the Hardin County Board of Education, which makes the final decision on the calendar. The board’s decision is typically made in December of each year. The survey is available through Friday, September 25.
