Road crews across the area remain busy as they continue working to remove snow and ice, including in the city of Elizabethtown.
City crews have plowed and salted every city street multiple times since the beginning of this winter storm and will continue treating roadways until conditions return to normal.
That’s according to Amy Inman, who says this storm recovery will take longer than a typical snow event due to the amount of ice and the prolonged frigid temperatures.
As sunshine returns and temperatures begin to rise, plowing and salt treatments are expected to become more effective, and improvements should become more noticeable.
Meanwhile, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 4 says the effectiveness of road treatments is reduced when temperatures fall to extreme lows. Crews will continue their work as conditions allow.
In a statement, the Transportation Cabinet thanked drivers for their patience, saying crews have been working tirelessly for several days on extended shifts and will remain on the roads as long as conditions permit.

As a reminder, please do not call 911 for road condition information.
