Radcliff Police Department supporting area school kids with annual backback giveaway

The Radcliff Police Department invites area families to help their students start the new school year prepared and confident with their third annual Back to School Backpack Giveaway. “It’ll take place on August 3 at the Colvin Community Center here in Radcliff from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. or until supplies last, so hopefully they go quick and we we get a decent crowd to come out and collect these backpacks,” said event organizer RPD Sergeant Jamaal Wilson. Participating families just have to come to the Colvin Community Center to participate. “This year, we’re going to allow the kids to pick out whichever backpack they want and actually kind of go through the different supplies and things that we have and actually get to pick out the things that they want,” Wilson said. “We’ll have pizza there, some music going on, so hopefully it’ll make it a good time.” Some of the backpacks were donated to the RPD by area businesses, while others were bought using money donated by RPD officers.
