The National Weather Service in Louisville has confirmed at least eight tornadoes touched down as part of the severe weather across the area Tuesday.

NWS Louisville Meteorologist John Bumgardner says one of the first touch downs was in Fort Knox.

“Looks like that one touched down around 4:03 p.m. and spun up pretty fast,” Bumgardner said. “It was kind of embedded in a line. We actually saw that one on radar, so we were able to call it a radar-confirmed tornado. We saw debris getting lofted.”

That tornado was classified as an EF1 with top speeds of 95 miles per hour.

A long-trek tornado made its way from Grayson County to Hart County, traveling more than 21 miles over 41 minutes. That tornado was classified as an EF2 and produced winds as high as 115 miles per hour.

If you have any storm damage, contact your county’s emergency management office.
