Helping Hand of Hope in conjunction with the Lincoln Trail District Health Department will be having a vaccination clinic on May 4th. This will be a drive thru clinic at their location at 6796 South Wilson Road in Elizabethtown, Appointments are required, call 270-1601 to register.

Hardin County Performing Arts Center is still plugging along with some great activities and entertainment opportunities for those interested in the arts. The Pac will be offering a dance initiative for gifted and talented students in Hardin County Schools, the PAC will also be offering Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet on demand. They will also be taking auditions for their production of The Addams Family. The PAC has been open since November with limited activity.

The Leitchfield Police Department has found a new home. After a little over a year of construction and preparation they opened at their new location at 515 South Main Street in Leitchfield this week. They had been at their other location since 1991.

Governor Andy Beshear and Labor Cabinet Secretary Larry Roberts announced today that in person unemployment insurance services will open April 15 at more than a dozen regional Kentucky Career Centers (KCCs) including one at 233 Ring Road in Elizabethtown. KCC staff will be available for in person assistance by appointment only. Kentuckians can begin scheduling Monday through Friday appointments at kcc.ky.gov.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College has been awarded a $300,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to support expansion of the Advanced Manufacturing Army Career Skills Program.
The three year Advanced Technological Education Grant will allow ECTC to add a robotics and automation certification pathway and support a Career Skills Program Coordinator who will facilitate recruitment and retention plans. The grant starts May 1st.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s office has been receiving reports of another scam in our area. An individual posing as a deputy sheriff is calling individuals stating they have a warrant. The individuals are then instructed to send money to clear their record. If you receive one of these calls, please report it to the Hardin County Sheriff’s office.

An attempted robbery was foiled Friday in Radcliff. On April 2nd at approximately 3 pm the Radcliff Police Department responded to the 200 block of Wilson Road in regards to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned the subsect had approached another individual leaving the Cecilian Bank in an attempted robbery. The suspect also identified themselves as a Radcliff Police Officer. Hamilton was charged with Robbery second degree and impersonating a police officer. The case is currently pending investigation.

Hardin County Government along with AGC Automotive America’s and Cobalt are having their annual E-Scrap Recycling event next Saturday, April 17th. You can bring your electronic items like computers, camera’s printers, scanners, cd players and more to be recycled. The event is taking place at the AGC Automotive America’s Plant off of Highway 62 in Elizabethtown.

The City of Elizabethtown and E-town Tourism and Convention Bureau are excited to announce the on sale date for tickets to the first annual Concert on Main slated for June 26th. The smell of funnel cakes, sounds of carnival rides and fun will be back in July with the Hardin County Fair! The 2021 Hardin County Community Fair and Horse show will be July 5th thru the 10th at the Hardin County Fairgrounds … they expect all of your favorite fair events will be going on from the Midday, exhibits, pageants, truck and tractor pulls, horse show and more! Fair board President Marty Fulkerson said they had some special help this year from sponsors.

The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested Radcliff resident Dennis Monrow Wadzeck at an Louisville Airport on charges related to child sexual abuse material. The was arrested as a result of an undercover internet crimes against children investigation and was charged with six counts of possession of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance. These charges are class D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison. He was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.

Govenor Beshear’s Covid-19 briefing yesterday included 110 new cases in Kentucky 4 new deaths and a positivity rate of 2.9%. The Lincoln Trail District Health Department reported 44 new cases including 24 for Hardin, 2 for Larue and 6 for Meade Counties. Also Kentucky is no longer prohibiting or advising against domestic travel.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will offer in person classes at all of it’s campuses during the Fall 2021 semester. Considering the regional downward trend in Covid-19 cases and increasing vaccine availability, the college plans to offer a Fall schedule that meets student demand for in-person instruction. Most ECTC classes transitioned to online instruction in March 2020. Since then, in person classes largely have been limited to hands on labs. Fall classes begin August 16th. The Centers for Disease Control and the Kentucky Department of Education have released new guidance regarding temperature checks at schools. The guidance says that the CDC does not recommend schools continue to conduct Covid-19 symptom screening for students and staff on a daily basis. Hardin County Schools will follow this new recommendation when students return from Spring Break on April 12th.

Today, Attorney General Daniel Cameron and Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky will launch an awareness campaign to prevent child sexual abuse in Kentucky entitled “Are They Good For Your Kids”. The campaign challenges parents and caregivers to consider the adult influences in their child’s life and to play a role in preventing or identifying when an adult is grooming a child. Congratulations to the Elizabethtown Panthers boy basketball team on a great season and for the Runner’s Up Title in the KY Sweet 16 Basketball tournament. They lost the final Saturday night in Rupp Arena Lexington to Highlands. It’s been 21 years since they won their first title in the State Championship game.

Hundreds of pinwheels were in full view of Dixie Highway drivers Friday morning as CASA volunteers, personnel, and community leaders gathered outside the organization’s office to place pinwheels on the lawn, in honor of child abuse awareness month.
Radcliff City Councilwoman Toshie Murrell. 543 pinwheels were placed outside, representing the number of children served by the organization since 2007.

Today marks another drop in age requirement for Kentuckians looking to receive a Covid-19 vaccine. Governor Beshear made the announcement last week that those 16 and older could sign up for vaccines beginning today. On Saturday, Gov. Beshear reported 587 new Covid-19 cases in the Commonwealth and a positivity rate of 3%.
