The Elizabethtown Police Department, in collaboration with the Kentucky Organized Retail Crime Association, made a multitude of shoplifting arrests last Wednesday and Thursday. The details of the arrests were discussed at a press conference yesterday morning. Of the 31 contacted, twenty were from Hardin County, ten were from neighboring counties, and one was from out of state. The total value of items shoplifted came out to $1967.83. The conference closed with Elizabethtown Police Officer John Thomas reiterating that this was only the beginning, and EPD is going to continue to crack down on this kind of crime.
A West Virginia man was convicted in a death investigation stemming from an automobile crash last October in Radcliff. According to the county clerkâs office, Shawn Welsh was found guilty of murder, assault, possession of a controlled substance, fleeing or evading police, receiving stolen property, and driving under the influence. The penalty phase of the trial is scheduled for today.

A proposal by Telamon Energy Solutions to install solar energy panels into the Elizabethtown Wastewater Treatment Plant was put forward at a meeting of the Elizabethtown City Council held last night. On the proposed payment plan, the $2.8 million project would be paid off in eleven years, and is expected to save the city over $4 million by the end of its twenty-five year warranty.
