EFD units respond to Thursday house fire
Officials are investigating after a house fire in Elizabethtown yesterday. It happened late Thursday night, when fire officials say they received a call around 8 p-m to a structure fire and suspected explosion 401 Poplar Street. Three units were dispatched to the scene, where the fire was eventually controlled. No individuals were inside of the residence at the time; however, it is considered a complete loss. The cause behind the fire is still under investigation.
CASA, local officials, to place pinwheels in honor of child abuse awareness month
The sight of pinwheels will dot the front lawn of CASA this weekend. Beginning this morning, CASA personnel, as well as elected officials from around the area, will take turn placing pinwheels as part of child abuse awareness month.
CASA executive director Norma Hatfield says the state once again was recently once again named first in the nation for child neglect and abuse.
LTDHD offering vaccine clinics in Nelson, Hardin counties next week
Those still looking for a vaccine, look no further. The Lincoln Trail District Health Department will be hosting a vaccine clinic in Hardin County next week.
Spokesperson Terrie Burgan says the clinic can host 400 people. The clinic will be utilizing the single shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Nelson county’s clinic take place April 6th, with Hardin county on April 8th.
Hardin County Farmers Market reopens for season Saturday
Tomorrow is opening day for the Hardin County Farmers Market. Local growers say the market will have a variety of fresh items early on in the season.
Local grower Larry Thomas says the Hardin County Conservation District will also be on hand giving out free trees.
Beshear: 16 and up can register for vaccine beginning Monday
Another drop in age requirements for Kentuckians looking to receive a Covid-19 vaccine. Governor Beshear made the announcement this week that those 16 and older could sign up for vaccines in the coming days.
The state reported 972 new cases yesterday, with a positivity rate of 2.9%. Local cases included 16 in Hardin county and 1 in LaRue.
