Possible solar projects coming to Hardin County have the community both concerned and eager for more information.
On Thursday, the Hardin County Citizens for Responsible Solar Group held an informational meeting on the pros and cons of solar energy. Spokesperson of the group, Megan Taul, stated the turnout was a success.
“There’s about thirty of us that have been writing letters, going to court, going to visit, and making phone calls. This is what they needed to hear and see. We, residents of Hardin County, have a voice.”
Also present at the meeting was Robin Saiz, co-founder of IBV Energy Partners, a Solar Project that has plans of coming to Hardin County. Size says he came to the meeting to hear the concerns of the community.
“One that I’m hearing about is you’re taking farmland out of production. We’re planning to continue to let the landowners farm the land.”
This solar project will be brought before the Planning and Zoning Commission tomorrow night at the Hardin County Government building to request a zoning change. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. and anyone is welcome to attend.
