Baptist Health Hardin is now offering a Saturday morning Sports Injury Clinic beginning tomorrow. The clinic will be open to high school athletes with sports-related injuries. No appointment is necessary. The clinic opens at 7:30, and all patients must be signed in by 8:30. The 43rd annual Glendale Crossing Festival is tomorrow.
“We have at least 500 arts and crafts booths across the community. From the proceeds of the festival this year, we were fortunate enough to be able to donate $5,000 to East Hardin Middle School’s new location. It is just a boost to the community but a boost to our economy,” stated Mike Bell, a Founder and Treasurer of this festival.
Events will begin at 8 a.m. and the Great Crossing Festival Parade will start at 10 a.m.
The Hardin County Animal Shelter is in need of several items including peanut butter and pumpkin.
“Peanut butter is more of a treat thing, it’s one of the little things we can do to try and keep them sound until they do find their forever home. Pumpkin helps when you have dogs that have diarrhea. If we can get any type of disposable gloves, that would be helpful. Every little bit helps,” stated Director Mike McNutt. Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, including Nolin RECC, are bringing back the ‘Who Powers You’ contest to local communities.
This contest highlights co-op members who are making a positive impact on their communities. Someone in Kentucky will win $1,000.
Past winners included a tennerage who worked to donate bags to kids in foster care, a man who supported local law enforcement with counseling services and a woman who created a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing displaced animals.

Nelson County is asking for the public’s help in locating a reported missing juvenile. 14 year-old 5’5 Dwight Bednara, also commonly referred to as Conner Windham was last seen wearing an orange and blue plaid button down shirt, blue jeans and red shoes. He was last seen in the Bertram Court area around 4:30 this morning.Anyone with information is asked to contact Nelson County Dispatch, 502-348-3211.
Kentucky State Police Post 4 is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying an individual that was involved in a vehicle pursuit that occurred on June 13th, 2021 in the Upton area. This week, Hardin County Schools will not require masks.Per the procedures put in place on August 10th, when the incidence rate is below 50, masks will not be required but highly recommended.The Hardin County Covid-19 incidence rate was 43.6 on Thursday, October 7th.
Additionally, those involved with athletic programs are now able to participate in Test to Stay protocols.
Hardin County Schools has announced the new East Hardin Middle will be ready and open to students starting Monday, October 18, 2021. In order for teachers and other staff to prepare for this transition, EHMS students will have a “learn at home day” on Friday, October 15, 2021.
It is important to note that phones or email may not be available on that Friday as staff members will be preparing the classrooms and other areas to use on the following Monday.
The “learn at home” day will be for East Hardin Middle School students only.
Students will have the opportunity to tour the new school on Thursday, October 14th.
On Friday, the CASA of the Heartland was awarded the Kentucky CASA Network Program of the Year at the conclusion of Kentucky CASA week.
Their recruits work to train and support volunteers in the community who stand up for abused and neglected children within the family court system.
CASA of the Heartland serves children in Hardin County and Fort Knox. It is one out of 24 current programs across the state.
