Attorney General Announces Election Audit

The Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron announced that 12 randomly selected counties in Kentucky will undergo a post-election audit. It includes one local county: Larue County.  The audit will be conducted by the Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations. The Attorney General stated the purpose of the audit is to protect the integrity of our elections.

City of Elizabethtown Sales Downtown Property

The City of Elizabethtown has approved the sale of a property on College Street. The property is located at 226 College Street, it was sold to H.C. Real Estate USA Inc. The real estate arm of Kruger Incorporated. Kruger intends to build apartment buildings with up to 125 units, a community area and a swimming pool. The prospective apartment will be targeted as workforce residences for the Kruger Packaging Plant located in Elizabethtown, however, the apartments will be available to the public. The property was sold for 750,000 dollars.

Elizabethtown: Letters to Santa

The City of Elizabethtown is collecting letters to send to Santa. The form to participate can be printed from the City of Elizabethtown’s website. Once complete, there are two North Pole Mailboxes in the city — one at Pritchard Community Center and one at the Bluegrass Sportsplex – to drop the letters off at. The cost is 5 dollars and each child will receive a personal letter, a magic key for Santa and a Christmas ornament kit to make. The deadline to submit the letter is December 12th.

Fast Relief Day

A local nonprofit is hosting a donation event this weekend. Give270, will be holding a fast relief day this coming Sunday. Fast relief day is a part of a greater fundraiser occurring next month from December 1st to the 15th, to help combat local food insecurity. They are encouraging people to fast for 1 or 2 meals and donate the money saved to a local charity. Former Kentucky Governor Passes Away

A former Kentucky Governor passed away last week. John Y. Brown Junior passed away last Monday at the age of 88. Brown was the 55th Governor of Kentucky and served from 1979 to 1983.   A public visitation will be held in the Capitol Rotunda tomorrow from 3 pm to 7 pm. A private memorial will also be held on Wednesday but can be viewed at ket.org.

Room in the Inn Hardin County Shelter Opens

Room in the Inn Hardin County has opened a location in Radcliff. The location is 1633 North Logsdon Parkway and will require transporting guests from warm blessings each night. The drive is about 25 minutes and they have acquired a bus to transport everyone each day. The facility can house all 25 people that are in the warm blessings program. They are looking for volunteers who have a CDL, in the morning around 8 am and in the evening at around 530 pm to drive the bus. Lions Club Coat Drive

The Elizabethtown Lions Club has joined a statewide coat drive. Previous President Brian Dennis stated, “ the Elizabethtown Lions Club was contacted by our state leadership. They are having a state-wide coat drive. We are going to collect all the coats we can and take them to a central location in Mount Washington, where they will be taken by truck and delivered to Eastern Kentucky.” There is currently one drop off point at the award center in front of the panther academy in Elizabethtown, however, more drop off points are being located.
